Position Title: Family Program Assistant  

Immediate Supervisor:

Status: Full Time; 3 year Contract

Location: Brampton and Mississauga

The Program Coordinator is responsible for the effective and efficient service delivery of specific programs including engaging the community, partnership development and the recruitment and training of volunteers.

Responsibilities:

1.       Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Responsible for all aspects of program development, including parent workshops.  Ensure that programs are reflective of the goals and objectives of the agency and align with funder requirements

·         Administer surveys that will allow the organization to measure outcomes

·         Monitor and evaluate the program using the agency’s outcome measurement system.  Analyze results to inform improved service delivery

·         Engage the local community

·         Recruit volunteers who will assist in the development and implementation of a program

·         Recruit and train volunteers by providing direction, input and feedback

·         Collaborate with other service providers to assess their expertise and resources

·         Engage partnerships with service providers and include guest speakers and workshop facilitators

·         Reach out to local residents and will conduct focus groups to identify specific activities that residents would like to be offered

·         Responsible for timely submission of receipts, and all other documents to ensure compliance with agency policy, procedures and practices

·         Participate in community initiatives by maintaining a highly effective relationship with the participants, collaborative partners and community stakeholders. Act as a liaison for the agency with site specific stakeholders including school principals, custodians and parents and others.

·         Participate in Neighbourhood meetings

·         Create, edit and distribute appropriate program/project communication tools including flyers, and newsletters

·         Ensure that program expenses are in alignment with budget and meet the funder’s requirements

·         Provide input and recommendations to the program budget and new program proposals

·         Participate in the development of new programs and community initiatives

·         Accurately maintain all program records including registration information, safety forms etc.

·         Duties as assigned to meet operational requirements

·         Ensuring the appropriate resources are provided to families 

2.       Qualification, Knowledge and Skill:

·         Post-Secondary Education in social service, recreation, human services or related field

·         Supervisory experience in social service, recreation or related field

·         Strong team and leadership abilities

·         Strong organization skills

·         Strong skills in running children, youth and family programs

·         Ability to train and develop leadership, including parent leadership

·         Ability to work independently with strong oral and written communication skills

·         Ability to use Microsoft Word, Power Point, Publisher, Excel and Internet

·         Maintain current certificates in CPR / Emergency First Aid Certified; non-violent crisis intervention an asset

·         A current Vulnerable Sectors check and drivers abstract will be required

·         Must possess a valid class "G" licence with a positive abstract and must have a reliable vehicle

·         Must be prepared to acquire a Class “F” licence

·         Access to a vehicle

·         Ability to work flexible hours; including weekends

·         Ability to deal with conflict

·         Ability to deal with challenging behaviours

·         Good judgement

Position Title: Child Minder

Immediate Supervisor:

Status: Part Time; 3 Year Contract

Location: Brampton and Mississauga

The Child Minder must ensure that they provide quality childcare, within a positive, safe and happy environment while parents take part in workshops and meetings. Childminders are responsible for all aspect of planning and preparing a program activities.

Responsibilities:

1.       Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Provide children ages 2-12 with support and engaging activities.

·         Responsible for all planning and preparing a program of play based activities.

·         Keep the program space areas clean and organized.

·         Act as a positive role model.

·         Provide positive reinforcement and promote healthy, non- violent behaviours.

·         Follow agency policy and procedures

·         Maintain and complete appropriate forms

·         Work alongside volunteers and placement students to help them grow

·         Ensure program supplies and snacks are kept up to date

 

2.       Qualification, Knowledge and Skill:

·         A strong passion and interest in early childhood education.

·         ECE certification and/or equivalent education is an asset

·         Experience working with children in at risk neighbourhoods

·         Good Organizational Skills

·         18 years or older

·         Knowledge of local community 

·         Must be able to work in the evening

·         Strong oral and communication skills.

·         Strong conflict resolution skills

·         Personal or professional experience providing care to children required.

·         First Aid/ CPR Required.

·         Vulnerable Sector Check required.
