Former Boys and Girls Club of Peel Member and Leader comes home to serve in 2017

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 2/6/2017

BC Lions Wide Receiver Stephen Adekolu joins

The Boys and Girls Club of Peel as an Ambassador

June 2, 2017 (Region of Peel, ON) - The Boys and Girls Club of Peel is proud to announce that starting Wide Receiver with the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League has joined the team as our Ambassador beginning this June and for the 2017 CFL Season.

Being in the right place at the right time is essential for a receiver. On the field, Stephen Adekolu has had it both ways. Off of it, he can’t stop thinking about a recent situation where he could not have been in a better spot. That’s what has been dancing around his head since his guest appearance on the hit fantasy series Supernatural aired on March 2 2017. Adekolu was cast as a very imposing S.W.A.T. team member who wound up meeting a rather untimely ending.

Stephen was a member of the Boys and Girls Club of Peel from 2007 until 2013 where he developed and gained many of this leadership, social and academic skills he has today. As a mentor to those around him, Stephen sees and know the value he can give back to his communities, in Vancouver, British Columbia and in the Region of Peel, Ontario. The BGC Peel is proud to have Stephen as our Official Ambassador.

Stephen was signed as a free agent in May 2014 with the Lions. He signed a two-year extension with the Lions following the 2015 season keeping him in orange and black through the 2017 season.

We are so proud to have Stephen back where he belongs with our Boys and Girls Club of Peel, where he spent 2007 to 2013 as a youth member and leader. The level of professionalism that Stephen displays on and off the field, I see many of those same characteristics in our youth in program today so to have someone with personal hands on experiences from his time in the program and community, to now see him as an athletic and entertainment star across North America, we are very pleased to have a person of Stephen’s stature representing the families and youth from the Region of Peel in Ontario and across our great Nation.”
