Boys and Girls Club of Peel awarded a $659,900 OTF Grant

The Boys and Girls Club of Peel has been providing vital programs for young people in our community for many years,” said Prabmeet Sarkaria, MPP for Brampton South. “I’m pleased to see that the Ontario Trillium Foundation is supporting this community organization as it expands its reach into new areas with programs that will make a difference in young people’s physical and emotional health. Our Government for the People promised to make life easier for Ontario families and businesses, and we continue to deliver on that promise.”

The program is focused on helping families and youth in two local, low-income neighbourhoods and now with the OTF funding, will be expanding into two more areas in Brampton and Mississauga.

The focus of this funding is to help improve the family dynamic in our program locations and strengthen the relationships between parents, children and the community. This will be achieved by providing educational workshops, physical literacy activities such as; exercise classes, support groups and social groups such as; gardening club, sewing club, family nights, parent lead initiative.

The grant will be used over the next three years to assist with staffing costs, workshops and child care, supplies and information materials for the various initiatives involved with the program, and some administrative costs as well.

"The impact of this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant cannot be underestimated,” said Jim Turner, Executive Director with the Boys and Girls Club of Peel. “The Ontario Trillium Foundation has been such a wonderful partner and supporter of our families here in the Region of Peel with the Boys and Girls Club of Peel. We are delighted that because of the OTF grant program we will be able to help even more families get access to resources and improve their quality of life.”

“This is a fantastic day for the organization but more important, for the children, youth and families across the Region of Peel that we have the honour of working with every day. Thank you to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for seeing the value and impact our programs bring to the communities we serve and we look forward to working with you and others to grow and sustain the program across Peel while positively impacting the lives of so many.” – Michael J Gyovai, Resource Development Manager, Boys and Girls Club of Peel.
