BGC Peel (Boys & Girls) – Region of Peel: Finding a way to bridge Community Service Programs through the Pandemic & Recovery

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, human service infrastructure across the Province and Country have come together to serve marginalized community members at a time like never before in modern history.

Through our front line essential services we have helped our communities by reducing the stress and anxieties during one of the worst public health situations, while bringing together many of us from all walks of life and social groups and cultures, the need for strengthen community capacity and an ethic of care for our most vulnerable is critical.

In the face of this unprecedented global crisis, we have done everything we can and could do in partnership with our federal and provincial governments through the funding streams they have made available, focused on quickly and decisively responding to communities across the Region with the need for smart, rapid investments in through grants, donations and sponsorships from Government, Corporate Canada, Small Business Canada and local individual investors.

BGC Peel (Boys and Girls Club) is a non-profit organization providing community and social services and programs.  Our programs provide essential supports to some of the most at-risk members of our communities, including Family Program Support in way of Food Security / delivery of food and or food gift cards & Children/Youth Program, which includes a cooking program but not limited too, that requires delivery of materials and items that our vulnerable families are unable to obtain themselves.

Providing these critical and essential services from a virtual and or in-person programs and services are the life line for the over 1200 individuals we serve on an annual basis. Though these funding stream have been a benefit and necessary resources for our families over the past 38 years, this pandemic has changed the way the major funders donate and provide funds to essential front line service providers, like your BGC Peel (Boys and Girls Club).

BGC Peel (Boys and Girls Club) like many organizations are facing real threats to their short- and long-term sustainability with operational funding at risk due to significant declines in revenue. BGC Peel (Boys and Girls Club) revenue is generated through philanthropy, individual donors, as well as grants from all levels of government and local federations.

We know that these funding streams have been negatively impacted by Covid19 and that is why we at BGC Peel (Boys and Girls Club) know that the path to our children, youth and families successes has to come through multiple Corporation Partnerships/Stakeholders in the way of Major donation / contributions, linked with each municipalities program naming rights.
