The BGC Peel is a non-profit youth serving agency, that provides social and recreational programs for children and youth aged 4-17 years throughout Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon. Our main goal is to provide opportunities for our members to grow and experience new things in a safe environment to enable them to become fulfilled members of society
We are interested in a creative and energetic individuals to join our team as Program Coordinators and Program Leaders. The duties and responsibilities for these positions are as follows:
- Responsible for all aspects of program development in the delivery of quality Summer programs; ensure that programs are reflective of the goals and objectives of the agency including creative program plans; developing appropriate learning tools; accurately maintaining records as appropriate; monitoring and evaluating programs.
- Facilitate activities that promote physical activity, healthy eating and nutrition, wellness and personal health education
- Enhance positive and social interaction for all members.
- Create a positive environment where interaction, social development and learning can occur.
- Develop and maintain a good working relationship with participants, host site staff and representatives (for in person programs), parents, community members, supervisor and all other stakeholders.
- Supervision of facility or online classroom, equipment and all members during program hours
- Attend and actively participate in orientation, training session and workshops
- Ensure the safety of self and all members during program hours
- Ensure that consistent, fair and appropriate practices are maintained when addressing behavior challenges.
- Develop and maintain a positive image with all members and staff
- Participate in community initiatives, maintaining a highly effective relationship with the participants and community stakeholders .
Qualifications:
- As per our funding requirements,
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act2; and,
- be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- Ability to work effectively with children, youth and co-workers; ability to manage and lead a team, ability to organize, plan, implement appropriate activities to further organizational goals. Strong communication skills. Ability to work independently and achieve set goals.
- Must possess High Five Healthy Child Development certificate – (BGCP will be hosting a High Five training session. There is a cost for this training. Spaces are limited)
- First Aid Certified
- Current Vulnerable Sectors Check
- Knowledge of community an asset.
