Homework Support

The goal of this program is to create an environment that is conducive to learning, as well as to give members an opportunity to seek help or clarification with their assignments from BGC Peel staff/volunteers.

  • Students have access to computers, homework sheets, books and school supplies
  • Staff and volunteers provide fun, academic activities to assist in learning
  • Youth have an opportunity to apply for academic scholarships through the BGC Canada
POWER UP! (Ages 6 – 12)

For children aged 6 – 12

Power Up! is an academic support program that helps kids develop positive study habits and practices at school, and encourages a life-long interest in learning. Participants are given the tools and environment necessary to set and plan for academic goals, and are helped along the way by volunteer tutors and mentors.

Recreation and Healthy Lifestyle Program

Recreation and Healthy Lifestyle Program

The goal of these programs is to nurture members into well-rounded individuals with a wealth of experiences and life skills.

  • Healthy active living is promoted through movement, participation and sportsmanship.
  • Healthy food choices are supported through education, activities and healthy snacks
  • Games and activity-based workshops encourage discussion and learning about a range of topics including self-esteem, decision-making, conflict resolution and cooperation with other
  • Children and youth are educated about substance use, internet safety, bullying, gender bias, violence prevention and other issues
COOL MOVES (Ages 8 – 12)

For children aged 8 – 12

Cool Moves is a national activity and healthy eating awareness program designed to create a life-long appreciation for a healthy, active lifestyle. Cool Moves has two distinct parts: Eat Smart, in which participants are encouraged to make healthier eating choices, and Play Cool, in which participants are encouraged to engage in more physical activity.

STEAM AHEAD (Ages 7 – 13)

For children and youth aged 7 – 13

Using interactive, hands-on activities to engage different learning styles, STEAM Ahead encourages children to explore STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fundamentals and includes an artistic (A) component to encourage creativity and innovation.

Indigenous & EDI Initiatives

Working closely with the Indigenous community in providing specific and culturally appropriate programming for First Nations, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) children, youth, families and the broader community.

Our Indigenous programs provide hands-on cultural experiences, elder involvement, health and wellness activities, traditional arts programs and youth mentorship.

Torch Club

For children and youth aged 10 – 13

Torch Club helps kids develop leadership skills and self-esteem in a respectful, diversified environment. The program also offers the opportunity to give back to others and gain a sense of responsibility that comes when young people make their own decisions. A small group experience monitored by an adult mentor, Torch Club serves as a launch pad for pre-teens before joining the Keystone program.
